The Flint Journal Editorial - Out of Touch
June 19, 2008
An editorial, published yesterday in the Flint Journal, in response to this article, seems to be out of touch with reality. In a city third on the list for violent crime, you would think people in Flint would understand the desire law abiding citizens have for carrying guns. This does not seem to be the case for the Journal.
The author actually suggests that those who carry guns “should feel some sensitivity for other park users who do not share their enthusiasm for handguns.” Those who do not agree are just as obligated, if not moreso, to respect the right of gun owners to carry a handgun. If the author feels this way, then he must have the same feelings for other topics. This is no different than somebody seeing a gay couple holding hands or kissing and being offended. Should the gay couple feel sensitivity for those who disagree? It’s idiotic to think so.
